The Unknown Within Us: The Secret Life of the Cytoskeleton.

Zdenek Lansky & Jan Sabo

September 29, 2023, 4:30 PM - 10:00 PM, Night of Sciences, Emile Zola Media Library, Montpellier

COSA Montpellier, with the support of the SBCF (French Society of Cell Biology), hosts a public exhibition of Art & Science works by researchers Zdenek Lansky and Jan Sabo from the Institute of Biotechnology, Czech Academy of Sciences.

The artworks shed light on a filamentous network found inside all cells of higher organisms and essential to our lives: the cytoskeleton. As the name suggests, the cytoskeleton is important for providing cells with mechanical support. But that's not all: the cytoskeleton is also responsible for the movement of cells and the entire organism. The photographs presented were taken by cameras installed on state-of-the-art optical microscopes. The resulting images show elements of the cytoskeleton magnified approximately 10,000 times, artificially colored through genetic or chemical methods.

The first stage of this exhibition will be the Night of Sciences event on September 29, 2023, at the Emile Zola Media Library in Montpellier : https://mediatheques.montpellier3m.fr/sciences-de-nuit.aspx
